If your child looks away, fidgets or needs reminders during an online Quran lesson, begin by checking the lesson setup and task. A useful class gives the child opportunities to listen, respond, read and practise a correction. Sitting perfectly still is not the only sign of participation.

This guide offers practical adjustments to discuss with your teacher. If you are choosing a starting course, explore Muruj’s online Quran classes for kids and share your child’s age, current skills and learning needs.

Start with one question: when does participation become difficult?

Observe a few lessons rather than judging one difficult day. Write down the point at which your child stops following: before reading begins, when unfamiliar words appear, or toward the end of the session. That information gives the teacher something specific to review.

For example, a child who answers letter questions but cannot read the assigned words may need a smaller reading step. A child who participates until a notification appears may need a quieter device setup. Neither observation proves a single cause, but both help you choose what to adjust first.

Prepare the device and learning space

  • Charge the device and check sound before class.
  • Close unrelated tabs and silence notifications.
  • Keep the assigned book or Mushaf within easy reach.
  • Choose a place where the teacher can hear recitation clearly.
  • Let younger children know that you are nearby if they need help.

You do not need a special home classroom. A comfortable, repeatable arrangement can remove avoidable interruptions and make the start of each lesson easier.

Review the time and lesson length

Tell the academy if the class regularly falls when your child is tired or immediately after another demanding activity. Ask whether a different available time would be more manageable.

Muruj offers 30-, 45- and 60-minute options. Discuss duration according to the child’s actual participation and goals. A longer session should provide useful teaching time; it should not be chosen simply because it looks like faster progress.

Make the reading task clear

Ask what your child is expected to do during the current stage. “Read these short words with the vowel marks” is a more useful instruction than “try harder.” If the child repeatedly guesses, discuss whether Quran foundation work needs more attention before longer passages.

During the lesson, the teacher can model a sound, listen to an attempt and check the correction. At home, use the task the teacher assigned rather than introducing several new activities at once.

Support the lesson without giving every answer

A parent can help with a connection problem or a calm reminder to return to the teacher. Try to leave the reading response to your child, so the teacher can hear what is understood and what still needs practice.

If your child becomes upset or repeatedly cannot follow, share that with the academy through its official communication channel. Describe the situation and ask about a suitable adjustment.

A short observation note for parents

What to record Example note
Task Joined-word reading after vowel revision
What the child managed Read the familiar examples with little help
Where help was needed Paused on unfamiliar joined forms
Question for the teacher Which two examples should we practise again?

The note is a conversation aid, not a behavior score. The aim is to make the next lesson more suitable and the home task easier to understand.

Should I correct my child during the class?

Let the teacher lead reading correction where possible. Help with practical problems and raise recurring concerns after the lesson.

What should we do between lessons?
