Harakat & Quranic Words
Know the Arabic letters but find it hard to read a word? Learn the vowel marks and reading signs, then practise joining sounds into simple Quranic words in live one-to-one lessons.

Turn familiar letters into readable words
This path suits learners who can recognise many letters but still pause over vowel marks, struggle to connect sounds or rely on a teacher to read each word first. A short assessment confirms whether this is the right starting stage.
Your teacher models a sound, listens as you read, and gives immediate correction. You practise the same sign in unfamiliar examples before moving to connected words.

What you will practise
The teacher adapts the sequence to your assessment, revisiting difficult signs before adding new ones.
Short vowels
Read letters with fathah, kasrah and dammah and hear how each mark changes the sound.
Sukoon and shaddah
Practise a letter without a vowel and a doubled letter in short, guided examples.
Tanween
Recognise the three tanween forms and read their ending sounds with correction.
Long vowels
Distinguish a short vowel from an elongated sound in simple words; detailed Tajweed rules belong to the separate Tajweed course.
Joining sounds
Blend letter sounds and reading signs step by step without depending on transliteration.
Quranic words
Read new, level-appropriate words, notice recurring patterns and prepare to read connected verses.
This is a reading foundation. The pace and exact examples depend on the student’s level; no fixed number of lessons is promised.
Listen, blend, read and correct
Each one-to-one lesson reviews earlier signs, introduces one manageable reading skill and applies it to fresh examples. You read aloud while the teacher identifies a specific mistake and models how to correct it.
- Short, clear practice with each mark
- Direct feedback on pronunciation and joining sounds
- Words chosen for the learner’s age and level
- A practical reading task to review between lessons

Harakat & Quranic Words FAQs
Do I need to know every Arabic letter first?
Recognising the letters and most of their sounds helps. Your teacher will assess gaps and may recommend the letter foundations stage first.
What are harakat?
They are vowel marks that guide how a letter is pronounced. Lessons begin with fathah, kasrah and dammah, then add other reading signs as appropriate.
Is this course suitable for children and adults?
Yes. The teacher adjusts examples, pace and practice to each learner.
Will I learn Tajweed rules here?
You practise reading signs and accurate word reading. In-depth rules such as detailed elongation and articulation study are covered in Muruj’s separate Tajweed course.
When can I move to short surahs?
Your teacher checks whether you can read new words with greater accuracy before adding connected verses. Timing depends on your starting point and practice.
