A successful Hifz schedule needs more than a target for new memorization. It should also protect what has already been memorized through regular revision.

Choose a realistic new-memorization target

Your daily or weekly target should match your reading ability, available time and current retention. Smaller consistent portions are better than large targets that cannot be reviewed properly.

Separate new memorization from revision

New memorization requires focused repetition, while revision requires recall and correction. Treat them as two different parts of the routine.

Use recent revision

Review the passages memorized in the last few days frequently. This helps move them from short-term recall toward stronger retention.

Add long-term review

Older Surahs or pages should continue to return in a rotating review plan. Without this layer, earlier memorization gradually becomes weaker.

Keep one lighter day

A lighter day can be used for review, correction and catching up instead of adding new material.

Track what needs more work

Mark weak passages and bring them back more often. A good schedule is flexible enough to slow down when revision needs more attention.
